Site policy
Disclaimer
Plain-language version first: this site explains how the system works. It doesn't know your situation, and it's not a substitute for a health professional who does.
General information, not medical advice
Everything on HealthMaps is general information about navigating the Australian mental health system. It is not medical, psychological or legal advice, and it isn't tailored to your circumstances. Nothing here can diagnose a condition or tell you which treatment is right for you. For advice about your own health, see a GP or a qualified mental health professional.
This is not a crisis service
HealthMaps is an information website — no one monitors it, and we can't respond to urgent situations.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger
000If you're in crisis or need to talk to someone now — Lifeline, free and available 24/7

Costs and Medicare figures are estimates
Fees, gap payments and Medicare rebates change over time and vary between practitioners and locations. Figures on this site — including the cost calculator — are indicative estimates to help you plan, not quotes. Always confirm fees and rebates with the practice before you book, and check current rebate amounts with Services Australia.
Keeping information current
We do our best to keep information accurate and up to date, and we correct errors when we find them or when readers point them out. Even so, details — especially costs, rebate amounts and referral rules — can change before we catch up. If something here looks out of date, please tell us at jethrohedstrom@gmail.com.
No endorsements
HealthMaps is independent. We don't accept payment from practitioners or services, and a mention of any service type on this site is explanation, not endorsement. Links to external websites are provided for convenience; we aren't responsible for their content.
