Why this site exists

I think the healthcare system in general has become difficult to navigate and understand, and that puts people off getting help.

I find I commonly see a professional, without really knowing how much it will cost me, why, and how to pay and if I need a referral.

I have started with mental health but aim to eventually map out the whole health system.

What this site is

HealthMaps aims to provide the map. For example: how to get a referral to a psychologist, how much it will cost out of pocket, and what the difference is between a clinical and a general psychologist.

Who's behind it

HealthMaps is an independent project built by Jethro Hedstrom, a physiotherapist based in northern NSW.

It's self-funded, carries no advertising, and has no political or commercial ties.
